Fellows of the Explorers Club (FI’16) and Associate Members of the Boston Sea Rovers, Michel Labrecque and Julie Ouimet have been leading expeditions for several years. They have traveled to the four corners of the globe to dive and gather images. Their passion for sharks has brought them to far and remote places and allowed them to take part in exclusive expeditions along with industry top names.

Guest speakers in Canada and the United States, their underwater images have been presented in Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Boston, New York, Dallas, Long Island, Long Beach, France, Switzerland, Serbia and Slovenia.

They write articles and are regular contributors with En Profondeur and Diver UK (dive magazines). Michel and Julie previously owned an award-winning PADI 5-Star Instructor Development Center in Quebec.

Michel Labrecque

Michel has an intense passion for underwater photography. His photography combines artistry with the more technical aspects of lighting and composition. His attention to detail and commitment to getting the shot have allowed him to quickly gain the respect of acclaimed photographers and industry leaders. His photos are internationally published in several magazines.

Michel is a PADI Master-Instructor, DAN Examiner, IANTD Trimix Instructor, PSI Instructor, Tec Rec Technical Instructor, TDI Technical Sidemount Instructor, EFR Instructor Trainer, Trimix Gas Blender and Equipment technician. In 2016, Michel was named as a PADI Ambassadiver.

Before working full time in the diving industry, he worked in construction engineering as a designer and general manager of field operations for international mega-projects. He was also an officer in the Infantry with the Royal 22eme Regiment of the Canadian Army.

Julie Ouimet

Julie decided to go off the beaten path in 2006 when she left the corporate world behind. She was a practicing attorney for eight years and a marketing director for five before choosing the ocean. Her profound passion for scuba diving and the underwater world has led her to far and remote places and now into underwater filmmaking.

Her short films have been screened and won awards in festivals such as the Festival mondial de l’image sous-marine and the Festival international du film maritime, d'exploration et d'environnement (France), International Underwater Film Festival Beograd and Silently Film Festival (Serbia), Walking Beneath the Sea Film Festival (Slonvenia), Festisub (Switzerland) and Beneath the Waves Film Festival (USA).

She is a certified IANTD Trimix diver and Technical supervisor, PADI Assistant-Instructor, DAN and EFR Instructor. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Law and a degree in Public Relations/Marketing.
